Synopsis::
Ghum Bhangar Gaan' or the waking up song is the story of a family set against the background of workers' unrest. Hari is a factory worker but he and his wife Gauri want their son Sudha to become a flutist. They make all sorts of sacrifices they can for his future. When the workers call a strike Hari doesn't participate as he has to support his family. But, he gives shelter to injured union leader Damodar and helps him. When Sudha gets rejected by the renowned flutist he joins the factory. But the visit of his guru Akbar one day encourages him to take up flute once again. But tragedy strikes that very day when he and Damodar get killed in conspiracy meant to kill Damodar as a part of union politics. The lives of Sudha's parents are shattered forever.
